Product Description
MailPoet is great, MailChimp is great, but they all handle newsletters. What if you actually just want to send a plain text email? An email that looks like it came directly from you?
Plain text emails are far more personal than newsletters – they get far better open rates, and they get far better response rates.
Maybe you’re writing an email to some WooCommerce customers who purchases a particular product – this plugin does that.
How about if you wish to send an email to some particular users – this plugin handles that too.
It even works with MailPoet, so you can email a plain text email directly as a one-off email to whichever subscribers you like.
It’s only to be used for one-off emails – it doesn’t include scheduling, and it doesn’t include the ability to put images in the emails. But – it *does* integrate with the WordPress Users list, the WooCommerce Orders list and the MailPoet subscribers list.
It’s perfect for sending personal emails that look just like they came from you. It’ll use your default WordPress sending method – so, for example, if you have the ‘Configure SMTP’ plugin installed, it will abide by those settings.
You can override the From Name and the From Email Address, but other than that it’s really very simple and easy to use.
Installation Instructions
Once you’ve made the purchase, follow these instructions to get started:
- Download the send-plain-text-email-plugin.zip file in the email you receive
- From your WordPress Admin area, click Plugins -> Add New
- Click Upload Plugin
- Click Activate Plugin
Now, if you visit your WooCommerce->Orders admin page, or your Users admin page or your MailPoet->Subscribers page you will see a new button like this:
Using the normal checkboxes on the left hand side, select the users you would like to email and then click the Send Plain Text Email button.
A popover will appear, allowing you to configure your one-off email, like in this screenshot:
It will load your Blog name for the FROM name, but you can change that to your own name. It will also load the WordPress admin email but you can edit that too. Enter your email subject in the subject box.
The next two boxes are a little intro to your email – e.g. Hi Dave,
They include the newlines required before the main message is written in the email. There are two boxes – one for when a First Name can be found and one for when a First Name can’t be found. If you don’t want to use their name, just change the first box to say ‘Hi,’ for example.
Finally, write your message and click send.
When you click send it will send the emails immediately through your WordPress server – this depends on how you have your server configured. If you wish to use an SMTP server, I recommend the Configure SMTP plugin. It’s pretty old, but it still works perfectly as this part of the WordPress core really hasn’t changed. Anyway, if you’re able to send emails normally from WordPress, then the send plain text email plugin will work perfectly.
The plugin doesn’t do any bounce tracking or any scheduling or anything like that – it’s really for those moments when you wish to email a WooCommerce customer group (maybe all of those who have bought a specific product) with a special coupon offer, or when you wish to email the people who aren’t opening your MailPoet newsletters, or even if you’re just looking to email all the contributors to your website.
Full support is included – if you have any questions, email us or use the Q&A tab on this page. We respond to Q&A within a few minutes if we’re at our computers.
